CHANGES FOR 2021
HERE’S WHAT TO WATCH FOR

New Liquor Liability Applications – We will kick off the New Year with new applications for new and renewal business with effective dates of January 1, 2021 or after.  As part of our new system and product upgrades for 2021 we have revised our applications. The new applications reflect changes in our billing options and the addition of a new financing plan in conjunction with First Insurance Funding “Pay as you Pour”.  The new applications are found on our website under the Agents tab.  The applications were revised to reflect the new payment option and reflect the change in the required down payment which has been revised to 25%.

Commercial Package Policy Available 2/1/21 – Here is how it works. Whether we write one line of business or multiple lines for a policyholder, the policy will be a CPP.  Eligible lines of business include Commercial Property, General Liability and Liquor Liability. So, no matter how many lines the insured writes with us, all lines will be under the CPP and will have one invoice.  The one exception will be the Excess line of business.  This will not be included in the CPP, but it will be rolled into one account bill, still providing the insured with only one bill for all policies written with Hospitality. All policies reissued under the CPP will contain a new CPP policy number. So, all expiring policy numbers will no longer apply.

Policyholder Notification – New GL Forms Effective 2/1/21 – We are making some form changes to our Commercial General Liability policy for all new and renewal policies.  Please click here to see the Policyholder Notification that is being mailed with all renewal CGL policies with an effective date of 2/1/21 or later.

If an you’d like a copy of a specific form please request one via e-mail at info@hmic.com or request one from your underwriter.

The list of forms is below:

  • Lead Liability Exclusion
  • Asbestos Exclusion
  • Contractors, Subcontractors and Entertainers Exclusion
  • Infringement of Copyright, Patent, Trademark or Trade Secrets Exclusion
  • Communicable Disease Exclusion
  • OFAC – Advisory Notification to Policyholders

Watch for a webinar invitation coming soon to review these changes and some additional ones that will be effective soon.

On March 24, 2020, the MA Commissioner of Insurance issued bulletin 2020-05 regarding flexibility in the issuance and administration of insurance during COVID-19.

On Monday, March 16, 2020, Hospitality Insurance Group was one of the first companies to respond to the financial crisis facing policyholders.  On that day we issued the Hospitality Insurance Group’s COVID-19 Response to our agents and policyholders.  The response is posted here for your reference.  The response plan properly addresses the actions requested by the commissioner of insurance.

We are committed to working with our agents and policyholders during these trying times.
